I have learned that the one leaning towards divorce is often dealing with hopelessness and despair that can be very real/valid, and also sometimes a perspective that has gotten clouded by every moment turning into a 'stay' or 'go' tally— ambivalence that fuels ambivalence.

I have learned that the person wanting to preserve the marriage is often dealing with confusion around what makes the other partner feel that divorce is the only option, and often their lack of deeply 'getting' that can push away their partner even more.

I have been working with couples since 2021.
